UK Space Tech Angels workshop programme successfully launched

UK Space Tech Angels (UKSTA) hosted its first investor workshop on Thursday March 2nd, 2017 at Runway East on Finsbury Square. This event took place within three months of the launch of UKSTA and attracted 60 potential and seasoned investors as well as Space industry experts. UKSTA’s series of investor workshops and pitching events are being organised by London Business Angels (LBA) in conjunction with the £80m Seraphim Space Fund which opened its doors for business last autumn. The UKSTA programme is also supported by leaders in the industry such as Airbus Ventures and The Satellite Application Catapult.
The investor workshop featured keynotes from speakers, Stuart Martin, CEO of the Satellite Applications Catapult and Tim Just, Head of Space at innovate UK who both gave some their personal insights on the space industry and its future growth expectations. The workshop also featured talks from James Bruegger, Investment Director at Seraphim Space Fund, Sam Adlen, Head of Business innovation at Satellite Application Catapult and two LBA investor members who had already invested in space sector start ups
UK Space Tech Angels aims to provide new and dedicated sources of seed and early stage angel funding thanks to a tailored programme that connects angel investors with high-growth space-enabled start-ups. The programme focuses on UK based early stage space companies predominantly downstream technologies such as Data Analytics, 3D mapping, Artificial Intelligence, Satcom, GeoData, Augmented reality as well as semi conductors and drone technologies.
